Independent assurance for certification system integrity
SAJOMA Climate (SAJOMA) provides technical third-party oversight services to support the credibility, transparency, and effectiveness of sustainability certification systems. Acting as an independent technical body, SAJOMA provides certification schemes – such as RSB – with assurance and system integrity services, including the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of assurance systems and governance structures.
A key part of SAJOMA’s oversight services role includes the technical oversight of certification bodies and auditor activities — supporting the impartiality, credibility and consistency of certification systems, through risk-based approaches.
Our technical oversight services include:
- Reviewing assurance models, audit risk frameworks, and governance systems
- Evaluating auditor qualifications, performance, and oversight mechanisms Reviewing public audit reports to ensure consistency and transparency of the auditing process and outcomes
- Advising on non-conformity handling, escalation processes, and certification decisions
- Supporting regular certification system updates and continuous improvement processes
